Parent info:
Mother: Age 36 Education: 10th grade
Father: Age 48 Education: 2 years vocational Employed
Parents educational/teaching structure is very simple, not cluttered, somewhat organized.

Annual Family Income: 25,000

Family Setting:
2 children youngest with disabilities; oldest in Public School:
Son, T.
Cerebral Palsy and Mental Retardation
Home educating son

They came into the Program in February of 2003.

T., age 12, came into our program at a 3 year old functional level. He had a vocabulary of approximately 30 words. He could not identify or match colors or like objects, he could not copy a line or circle. His fine motor skills were limited to putting food into his mouth and holding large objects. Spontaneously stacked 3 blocks before they fell.

An Individualized Educational Program was written and specific activities were designed and taught to mother to implement daily until mastered.

T. remained in our program for 1 year. An evaluation completed 4 months into his plan revealed that he had increased his vocabulary to 40 words. He could make circles with a pencil after seeing it done. He matched 3 colors; red, blue, and green, with 100% accuracy. He identified red, blue and green by touch. Spontaneously stacked blocks to 6 high before they fell.

Mother worked diligently with T. until the end of the 2003 fall semester. The family’s socioeconomic level was minimal and mother needed to go into the workforce. They put T. back into Public school.
